Standing Beside Our Community
For more than two decades, the Goldfields Community Legal Centre (GCLC) has been a quiet but powerful force for good across the Goldfields-Esperance region. As a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to access to justice, GCLC exists for one simple reason: to ensure every member of our community can access legal support, no matter their circumstances.
At its heart, GCLC is about people. It's about listening without judgement, explaining complex systems in plain language, and helping individuals and families move forward with confidence during some of life's most challenging moments.
Family Law and Family Violence
Family law is one of the Centre's core areas of support. Whether navigating separation, making arrangements for children, applying for divorce, or working through property division, the GCLC team provides practical advice and ongoing assistance. From Parenting Plans and Consent Orders through to Family Court applications and navigating the eCourts portal, clients are supported every step of the way.
For those experiencing family violence, GCLC offers compassionate and practical help when it matters most. The team assists with applications for Family Violence Restraining Orders, provides duty lawyer services at the Magistrates Court, and helps connect clients with additional support services. No one should have to face the legal system alone, and GCLC stands beside some of our community's most vulnerable members during these critical times.
Civil Matters and Tenancy
Beyond family law, the Centre supports a wide range of civil matters including credit and debt issues, neighbourhood disputes, motor vehicle accidents, licence disqualifications, criminal injuries compensation and local government concerns. Their tenancy advocacy service is also a vital resource, assisting with bond disputes, repairs, termination matters and residential park issues — empowering renters to understand their rights and responsibilities.
Protecting Older Members of Our Community
A particularly important initiative is the Centre's Resilient Futures program, focused on safeguarding older members of our community. Through assistance with Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Enduring Powers of Guardianship, GCLC helps seniors protect their wishes and maintain control over their financial, medical and personal decisions. Community legal education sessions also raise awareness about elder abuse, encouraging early identification and prevention to protect some of our most valued community members.
Welcoming New Members of Our Community
GCLC's impact extends well beyond individual legal matters. Through migrant settlement services, youth programs and employment readiness initiatives, the Centre plays a meaningful role in welcoming and supporting new members of the Goldfields community. Workshops, peer support groups and Recovery College programs help build resilience, confidence and connection.
Supporting the Regional Workforce
The organisation also partners with local mining companies, educational institutions and businesses to deliver tailored workplace programs focused on mental health literacy, financial wellbeing, trauma-informed practice and inclusive workplaces — strengthening the wellbeing of our regional workforce.
In a region built on resilience, hard work and community spirit, the Goldfields Community Legal Centre embodies those same values. By protecting rights, promoting dignity and empowering people with knowledge, GCLC continues to strengthen the social fabric of the Goldfields — ensuring that support, fairness and justice remain accessible to all.
